[He isn't the type to let others see through him, most days. Introverted and perhaps overguarded are the two main things Sunday has always had, and for him, it's suited him just fine. He's never had a need for companionship in terms of it being a forever bound or long-lasting thing, and he wasn't going to change his mind about it.
Until now.
Lapis has convinced him to let her sleep beside him, if only to soothe the night terrors that cling to her everywhere she goes. Sunday has done this song and dance with her for some time- basically to a point where he's no longer sure where the lines between them start and stop, with who and what they even are in this relationship now. It's confusing, frightening, electrifying and rewarding all at once, and his usual paranoia of being close to people doesn't seem as strong as it once was.
For the morning, Sunday is unguarded and asleep, unaware that Lapis is awake. One of his headwings moves as she brushes the strands away from his face, gently bumping her hand as if it were a greeting of sorts. But Sunday doesn't wake- merely shifts and continues to dream, face half buried in the pillow and unresponsive. It's one of the very few times she can see him truly relax, him usually being so focused on keeping himself safe and also keeping an eye on Lapis and how she's faring. When the sun finally rises, that tension will all return at once, and the faรงade will once again take over.
But for now, it's just this, between them- and that's enough.]
[ This is a sight just for her, and Lapis can't help but feel slightly smug about it. That she's the one who gets to see Sunday, always so composed and guarded, in such a vulnerable state. Sure, she may sometimes enjoy working on his last nerve just to see his reaction, but... This is nice too.
And even with all the underlying fear and worries in the face of this... relationship between them changing, she's glad she can lay here with him like this. So she can't stop herself from smiling gently as one of the headwings bumps against her hand, a chuckle escaping her in response; a soft, whispery sound lest she risk waking him. It's almost a little tempting to turn her touch there, but... That might get more of a response and it's still far too early, especially since they were up a little late. Which was her fault.
Not that she regrets it, though the faint sting along her neck tells her she might when she looks in the mirror later. For now she just yawns quietly, taking the a moment to stretch before relaxing against him once more; almost cat-like as she dozes. While she no longer has such intense night terrors, falling back asleep after waking up is still a mission and one she fails frequently.
With sleep evading her, she instead turns her attention to Sunday once more - again reaching to brush her fingers through his hair, though it's more of an absent-minded touch. Merely savouring the feeling of his hair through her fingers, as her still-sleepy attention stays focused on him. ]
