( It must surely sting to find not only your sister dead, but the calm, idyllic dream shattered by a man who you'd tried to force into compliance and subservience. To idolize an Aeon who didn't prevent any of it, in spite of having THEIR metaphorical ear. The unflinching disdain of the gods is something Aventurine is familiar with, the loss of a beloved sister a familiar, aching pain.

But he didn't kill her. He didn't unleash the Meme on the Dream, either. He was there to shatter the perception of perfection, to sow doubt about the Family's ability to keep everyone safe -- that it was already on its way out certainly was a gift he wasn't going to look in the mouth. )

Hit a nerve, did I? That you're no closer to understanding what's going on in that Dream of yours while THEY let me wake up, whole and hale? Because I have to say, Sunday, getting off Penacony was easier than ever setting foot there. And maybe that's just because there's some divine comeuppance waiting for me on THEIR behalf.

[In truth, Sunday has long known that The Family is not one he can easily trust. To put him on this pedestal to lead the Oak Family, to have Robin write to him of her discoveries- trust is something he can afford so very little these days. It cost him his sister's life, and if he's not careful, it'll also cost him his own.

(If he had the choice to leave, to take Robin and run... who's to say, really. Even he can't tell, anymore.)]

I will make no wager, nor do I see a point in your endless droning. [Yes, Aventurine absolutely hit a nerve, and Sunday's irritated by it. He fully believes in the Harmony, but to continuously come up on the losing side, to remain empty-handed... The Family's expectations and demands dig into him like barbs, hold him hostage, threaten to choke him if he isn't careful.

And, more than anything else, now he knows the Sigonian wasn't the one who brought "Death" here. The answers slip through his fingers like sand, and he takes a long moment before he sends anything else.]

Now, now. Don't threaten me with a good time. Maybe you should save all that vitriol for whoever's been messing with Penacony instead.

But rest assured, I've no plans to get anywhere near your crumbling dream any time soon. I think I've earned a restful retirement for a job well done, and I fully plan on enjoying it.
